We recently announced the release of our 2015 Annual Report and it is posted online as an open-to-the public document, providing an overview of our work and accomplishments in the year 2015. In addition to our active engagement with the community to respond to hearings by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), we reached a record number of people – more than 1 million! – through our publications, social media, conference, educational programs, and website in 2015. The report also serves as another ”thank you” to our 2015 donors – without whom we wouldn’t be able to continue raising awareness and educating the public and practitioners about homeopathy. If you haven’t already, check it out here.

News in Nanoparticles
Researchers at Georgia State University found ginger-derived nanoparticles reduced inflammation and enhanced intestinal repair in mice with IBD-type symptoms, suggesting it could be used for treatment of conditions like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis in humans. As you likely already know, skeptics of homeopathy also have long avowed that homeopathic medicines work only by placebo effect since the medicines are “just water” and void of anything other than sugar. However, research conducted at the respected Indian Institutes of Technology did confirm the presence of nanoparticles of the starting materials even at high dilutions.
While the Georgia State University research on ginger doesn’t mention homeopathy, it is certainly a step towards proving that nanoparticles do have a biological and clinical effect. Read more about the study on ginger nanoparticles here.

|Medicine Cabinet Makeover: From Allopathy to Homeopathy
October 17, 2016, 8:00pm – 9:00pm ET
One of the barriers to using homeopathy can be habit. Once you’ve made the decision to include homeopathy in your life, it can be hard to break the routine of giving an over-the-counter allopathic drug; especially when you or a loved one is sick or in pain and you’re use to reaching for the aspirin, ibuprofen or antihistamine.
Join NCH and Kelly Callahan, CCH to learn her medicine cabinet makeover tips and tricks to help cement a new pathway to healing. She’ll also include helpful information on remedy differentials, dosing protocols and details on when you should follow up with a professional.
You will walk away from this webinar with specific action-steps to start exploring the natural alternatives that homeopathy has to offer!
About the presenter: Karen Callahan is a CHC certified professional homeopath with a small practice in mid-coast Maine. She graduated from the Baylight Center for Homeopathy in Portland, Maine in 2011 and is starting her third year with Jeremy Sherr and the Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies, in Sweden. Prior to becoming a homeopath, Kelly was a teacher in both wilderness and classroom settings, working primarily with middle school students in alternative settings. When not working on cases, she homeschools her two children, ages 9 and 12, on a beautiful ridge in Appleton, Maine.

You recently sent your niece off to college with a homeopathic remedy kit and all your good wishes. She phones you a few weeks later sounding restless and irritable: “It really hurts when I go to the bathroom! It’s making me crazy! What remedy should I take?” You ask some questions and learn that the pain came on very suddenly so she went to the college clinic, where she was diagnosed with a bladder infection and given antibiotics. “But I haven’t taken them yet,” she says. “I was hoping you could help me. Is there something in my kit? Those antibiotics always give me such an upset stomach.” She has classic urinary tract infection symptoms:
You ask her to describe the pain: “It’s so sharp and hot! Each drop burns like crazy when it comes out … what’s really scary is I saw a little blood, too, but the nurse said that’s not unusual.” Your niece mentions that her throat is also kind of sore upon swallowing. What remedy do you suggest to her?
(The answer is at the bottom of the newsletter.)

Stories of Inspiration
For many years I suffered regular nose bleeds due to Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), also known as Osler–Weber–Rendu syndrome. My older senior relatives were afflicted with internal bleeding and needed regular, monthly blood transfusions and iron shots, but I had been very fortunate, having had only three transfusions in the late 1970s.
After studying homeopathy, I decided to consult a professional homeopathic doctor in Boston and was prescribed Phosphorus. My nose still bleeds, but instead of 30-60 minute episodes, I take the Phosphorus and it usually stops in 5-10 minutes.
My hematologist is impressed by the progress that I’ve made and always encourages me to “keep doing what you’re doing.” I tell everyone I know that homeopathy is the way to go!
- S. Winthrop of East Taunton, MA
We LOVE to hear how our members are using homeopathy at home and we hope you will share 'Your Homeopathy Story' with us! Everyone’s story is different and we want to know how you use homeopathy in your life! Learn how to share one of your stories with NCH.
American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists (AAHP)
Only the Best Products Should Reach the Market by Mark Land, AAHP President
Many of today’s homeopathic products originated because of the contributions of our predecessors. These medicines were developed based on the medical expertise of ancestor homeopaths, often motivated by a perceived need in the market or a passionate pursuit of a specific therapeutic area. Today the development of health care products is well defined, complex and expensive. Many therapeutic ideas never make it to market, failing within one of the myriad stages of development. Only the best products reach the market.
Some within the homeopathic community question how applicable many of the stages of the current drug development process are to homeopathic healthcare products. I believe homeopathic products can benefit from the principles embodied within this approach. Today, the most successful homeopathic medicines are often the subject of rigorous, deliberate development programs. Continue Reading.
