New NCH Board Member Vision Statements

Denise Straiges, CCH, RSHom(NA), PCH

My life is dedicated to homeopathy. With decades of experience as a student, practitioner, teacher, mentor, researcher, school leader and international lecturer, I have been exposed to a wide variety of perspectives and insights into the business of homeopathy in the US and around the world; I would be honored to share that experience with the NCH board.

As demand for homeopathy goods and services grows exponentially—with anticipated market value to reach $18 billion by 2024—NCH is the key organization to take an overarching leadership role in guiding homeopathy into this next phase of maturity. This economic growth pattern will inevitably put homeopathy in a mainstream spotlight requiring a strong strategic vision, solid messaging, and the ability to ride the digital trends to ensure the safe and effective use of homeopathy as this unprecedented surge manifests.

Digital media has fueled this influx of interest into homeopathy, with social media platforms, podcasts and on-line education completely changing the game in a very short time. Every day, people from around the world are discovering homeopathy and wanting to engage in a safe, curated space where they can learn, explore and connect with others on a similar path.

I envision the NCH actively connecting the consumer to the profession at large (practitioners, professional organizations, educational institutions) in a very real way, creating a collaborative, inclusive environment that holds, shapes and grows our presence in healthcare. Leveraging—and monetizing—its existing resources as it effectively delivers information, education and professional connections to the expanding marketplace will be key to NCH’s ongoing success.

My experience in curating branding that is modern, accessible and on-message is a place where I believe I can be an asset to the NCH. I’ve founded, managed and consulted for numerous businesses (for-profit and NFP) and have extensive experience in strategic planning, marketing and finance. I have also held a variety of board positions in and out of the homeopathy world.

I have grown up seeing the power of Homeopathy and I have always believed in fighting for the right causes. After graduating in Management I worked for various companies, fine-tuning my skills but never totally finding my place. I eventually became a business consultant and found myself helping businesses in the Homeopathic sector. Since then my mission has been to help Homeopathy grow globally. It is not an easy task, but if you don't dream big you cannot achieve big. I have been involved with the NCH since 2014, attending the yearly JAHC congress. Over the years I have been able to observe the potential of Homeopathy in USA and as a result I would gladly help this key organisation take the right steps forward in order to guarantee its stability and growth for the benefit of the community. Working for a company that reaches thousands of Homeopaths in the world allows me to have a very broad vision of the sector, the community, its trends, and thus bring a precious contribution to the NCH's Board Of Directors. Homeopathy in USA (as in many other countries) has suffered immense ups and downs over the past century, but it has always survived. If we are still here it can only be because we are doing something right, and it is now - more than ever - that we need to unite and show what Homeopathy is capable of. To do this we need extreme clarity of action, a professional approach and a focused vision on the future. I hope that my addition to this team of passionate people will serve well in guaranteeing the above.

Margery Lucas, CCH (Cand)

I found homeopathy while on an endless search for a way to help my young son on the Autism Spectrum. After seeing the gentle yet deep healing response possible, I sought care for myself and other family members. In time I was so impressed with the ability of this natural substance to remove constraints and allow people to shift from surviving to thriving that I decided to pursue formal training and become a practitioner. I strongly align with the National Center for Homeopathy’s mission of providing education and building awareness while advocating for access to this safe and affordable form of medicine. I am passionate about sharing accurate information on homeopathy with the general public while building a sense of community and support amongst practitioners. I became a member of NCH in 2017 during my second year of homeopathy training and excitedly attended the past three JAHC conferences. In addition to the National Center for Homeopathy, I am also a member of The North American Society of Homeopaths (NASH). I actively support the Americans For Homeopathy Choice and Homeopaths Without Borders organizations. If elected to serve on the NCH board, I will bring a collaborative attitude honoring each board member’s unique talents and experiences while recognizing diversity is our strength. I feel optimistic about the future of homeopathy in America and look forward to giving my time and talents to nurture and support its growth. Thank you for considering me as a candidate for NCH’s board in 2020.
